The following paragraphs are in relation to the Israel and Zionism posts:
‘Politics & Poetry’ is also collection of my articles and posts about Israel, Zionism and Jewish Culture. I am a non-Jewish and non-religious Englishman with a deep fondness for the State of Israel and all things related to Judaism and Jews. You could call me a Judeophile or an Israelophile.
As well as offering a source of information to the visitor, this blog is also a way for me to further my knowledge about the State of Israel and Jewish Culture. Each post is researched and crafted with care before being published so as to avoid any factual errors, if at all possible. It’s also another website proud to declare its position on the front line of the fight against misinformation, bigotry and injustice that Israel faces on a daily basis.
Read this essay: Why I Strongly Support Israel
Q: Why such strong support for a foreign nation?
A: Injustice anywhere in the world must be fought and defeated if the values of the Enlightenment and the very pillars of Western Civilisation are to be held strong and for many more centuries to come. Israel is a prime example of an advanced democracy and society fighting the ills of tyranny, intolerance and the cultures of death. If this was not bad enough, the very groups that should be standing shoulder to shoulder with her, are not, and are instead actively supporting her defeat and downfall.
This unfairness, this injustice is too painful to ignore, even from afar. Over the last few years I have researched thoroughly the history of Zionism and Israel, as well as the political, military and cultural aspects of the Jewish State. During this time, my affection for this little nation has grown and blossomed, and today I am proud to call myself a devoted friend of Israel.
Q: Are you Jewish?
A: No. I have no Jewish ancestry as far as I know.
Q: Are you an Evangelical Christian whose support for Israel is based on religion?
A: No. I am an atheist.
